Friends of AEVVO|Tina: Persevere in Kindness and Pass on the Power of Belief
It all started with a woman, a desire for adventure, and a graduation trip alone
Before the gears of fate turned, I did not expect that I would have such a deep relationship with jewelry design. In 2008, I had just graduated from college at the age of 23. A long-term graduation travel plan took me to Tibet, this sacred and vast land. The land awakened me to another perception of the world. Now 15 years have passed since that fateful decision, and I have fallen in love with everything I have focused on in the past 15 years.
Gaining the strength to believe in desperate situations
During a 50-kilometer hike in Tibetan areas, I took the wrong route, which disrupted my plan. No one could believe how I spent a whole night alone in despair and panic.
The miracle happened when the sun rose the next morning. The sun shone on my face, everything was fine! A thin woman woke me up and took me to her home to rest, where I met her children and mother.
Gradually, we found a common topic, and the conversation began. Almost all adult men in the nearby village were gone to work away from home, leaving behind the children and women. They can’t even see their fathers and husbands for several years, during which they wouldn’t have any sort of financial support. This is how I met her, she was picking up stones with special textures. These exquisite stones are locally endowed with symbolic meanings of tenacity, wisdom, care and wealth. They can be used to make various decorations.Occasionally, merchants would come to the village to collect stones, though they couldn’t remember when the last time was, but it’s surely something they are keen to look forward to.
During our communication, there was a huge contrast between the difficulties in the reality and the optimism in the conversation. This surprised me very much. When I Asked how they maintain such optimism, her children told me: Here, “we believe in consequences. As long as we persist in doing good deeds, good things will definitely happen!”I spent an unforgettable day there and got enough rest. Before leaving, to express my gratitude, I spent all my money to buy stones collected by their family.
Persist in good deeds and inherit the power of belief
When I returned to my city, I was completely overwhelmed by the memories of what I had experienced, seen and felt in that land over a month.
When I picked up the ropes and stones in my hands, I found my own way of expression. To persevere in kindness and spread the power of this faith to bring hope and optimism to people in desperate situations. When I put these bracelets with stones on my social media along with the stories, they all sold out in the matter of days.
Soon I returned to the village again and started our business to help unemployed women regain job opportunities. After 15 years of exploration, I fell deeply in love with jewelry that has stories, meaning and energy.
How did I get to know AEVVO?
AEVVO and I first met at a design fair. When we found that we shared common values, we hit it off and created a series of jewelry with Tibetan culture. We hope to encourage people to have a positive attitude and live a better life.
